Top 5 Organization Ideas via Pinterest
Pinterest has become one of the favorite websites around my house. My wife is always “pinning” projects for the home and she has completed several that look awesome! Since I am able to tour so many homes with clients and also when I’m doing appraisals, one of the things I’ve been keeping an eye out for lately are cool projects to help create extra storage. We have our second little girl on the way next month and I have a feeling we are going to need to free up some extra room at our home in Daybreak!
I’ve been looking through Pinterest to get some ideas on creative ways to add extra storage. There are really some great DIY ideas and I thought I would share some of my favorites. Hopefully this will give you some ideas for your own Spring Cleaning to-do projects!
Top 5 DIY Organization Ideas via Pinterest:
#1 – Create a “library” from a small closet.
This is a great way to utilize what an underused hall closet. Add some extra shelves and switch out the standard door for a pre-hung glass door and you know have a pretty area to display and organize your books. Adding the glass door helps to lighten up a dark hallway.
#2 – Create a mud room in your entry hall.
Many of the Daybreak homes have a closet right off the front door. This is a great place to stash boots, coats, backpacks, etc. This is a great idea to take the organization a step further and create a mini-mudroom in this space. Notice in the picture below the doors have been removed, a bench with storage was added, hooks and shelves on the back and side create lots of room for scarves, purses, and coats.
#3 – Add a Media Wall under the stairs.
I was showing homes in Daybreak with a client last week and one of the two story homes in Daybreak we saw was a perfect match for this idea. What a great way to take advantage of the wall space under the stairs that is usually just dead space.
#4 – Overhead Garage Storage.
Who doesn’t need more garage storage? Check out this cool idea. Have you tried anything similar? This is a good idea to get all those Target plastic storage bins out of the way to free up space for bikes, lawnmowers, etc. It seems like it could work if the items in the bins weren’t too heavy. Such creative use of the overhead space in the garage.
#5 – Clean-up your cleaning supplies.
This is simple but looks like a great way to double your storage under the kitchen sink. Just add a tension rod under the cabinet that will hold the spray bottles and cleaning supplies. You still have room to store other items on the bottom of the cabinet.
