With or without a rare astrological event, there is often no better way to spend a cool summer night than outside. Whether you are sitting on your front porch admiring your Daybreak view, or enjoying a night in the backyard with family, this is a great way to enjoy a pleasant evening. In fact, 2013 summer's must-have trend for homeowners is an outdoor fire feature. I think we all have fond memories of sitting by a fire passing countless hours with chit-chat, night games, marshmallow roasting and s'more eating, while camping. Why not bring a little nostalgia right into your own backyard? Here is one of the top Daybreak Utah outdoor trends. California based designer Michael Glasman said, 'Fire adds another element to the yard. It adds ambiance and the drama of flames. It gives you another reason to go outside'. We have seen several people living in Daybreak who have added a fire pit to their backyard. If you are adding a permanent fire feature like the one shown here created with pavers, you will need to get approval from the Daybreak Community Association just like if you were to add a patio. There are also freestanding fire pits that can be purchased from home improvement stores or online. Home Depot carries a popular fire pit starting around $150. There are many different choices and ways for you to personalize a fire pit to your personal style and compliment your homes decor. In addition to the traditional wood burning fire pit, gas fire pits are also growing in popularity. If you are building a new home in Daybreak, you can add a gas line to your patio for either a fire pit or grill. If you have an existing home, this can be added after the fact with the help of a contractor. The cost will vary depending on how easy it easy to get a gas line out to your backyard. Gas fire pits are a great choice for convenience. They can be turned on with the flip of a switch and offer the relaxing effect of a fire without the camp fire smell or cleanup required from a wood burning fire. In a gas burning fire pit you can also choose to customize the insert with glass or rock instead of logs. If you decide to add an outdoor fire feature, make sure to put safety first. Keep in mind a few tips when for wood burning fires when selecting the location and fire enclosure that is right for your space:
We've seen a few well done fire pits in Daybreak homes. We would love to see your pictures if you or a friend have added a fire pit to your landscaping! Not sure about you, but I might just make a s'more for lunch. Happy Monday everyone! |
