Seasonal Decorating Updates for your Home

The holidays make the winters fun, exciting, and also makes the cold bearable. I’m always excited to pull out my boots and wear layers again. I love living in South Jordan, Utah, the fastest growing city, plus we get to enjoy all four seasons to its fullest, and there are so many actives close by to enjoy. I also love decorating the home to go along with the different seasons. Always seems to give the house a whole new look without having to change too much. Here are tips on creating seasonal decorating updates for your home to give your decor a fresh look.

When buying furniture, I always try to be wise and buy classic, durable pieces that will last a lifetime. When my husband and I first were married we bought 2 brown leather couches, five years ago, now with 2 kids they are still in amazing new condition.  They are great for when the kids spill their drinks or food. And whenever I need a change, I just change out the pillows and get a whole new look.

Classic Pieces That Last a Lifetime:

  • Buy classic colors browns, tans, grays, blacks
  • Couches: plain fabric, leather, micro fabric
  • Classic plain book cases, end tables, coffee tables (simple is better)

Stylish Accessories to Change with the Season:

  • Pillows
  • Frames (paint color seasonal)
  • Art Work
  • Flowers
  • Rugs
  • Knobs (can change on book cases or on tables)

Changing pillows, blankets, or frames colors can make a big difference in your home, without having to pay a fortune. Doing small and little changes can keep the home refreshing and new. Make the winter more bearable and enjoy your holidays this winter by decorating your Daybreak home. If you have any fun ideas for your home, please share them with us!

Here are pictures to give you some ideas of the different pillows I use to change the look of my family room in our Daybreak house throughout the year. The pillow covers are easy to store and it makes me feel like I have a 'new' room a couple times each year to rotate the throws and pillows based on the season. ~Jamie Jo
