Giving Thanks!

I love this time of year as we transition to winter from fall.  Our Daybreak Community is always looking beautiful thanks to the hard work of the landscaping and maintenance crews and the Daybreak staff who are in charge of caring for our grounds and common areas.  A big thank you for their expertise.

As always, we are also very thankful for the amazing clients we get to know and work with and the team of lenders, inspectors, escrow officers, and homebuilders in Daybreak Utah who have provided a great product and have created houses with charming style and appeal that will last the test of time (Think the Harvard/Yale/Avenues areas in Salt Lake). As the saying goes, 'it is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy' - and we have much to be grateful for!

We each have our own reasons why we looked for houses in Daybreak just as the pilgrims long ago were seeking new houses  and wanting to create a new community for themselves and their families.

Just in time for our individual celebrations of Thanksgiving - it is interesting to note the history behind the celebration and the people who established it as a national holiday.

-September 1620 the Mayflower left Plymouth England for increased religious liberties and headed for the new colonies

-After an arduous crossing lasting 60 days they landed at Cape Cod

-30 days later crossed the Bay to Plymouth Massachusetts

-Only half of the original passengers survive the first year in their new home

-In March 1621, they started building their houses and met Native American Indians

-Taught by the Indians how to survive and which crops to grow and what to eat

-In 1621, as thanks and gratitude a 3 day celebration was held which later was dubed-the first Thanksgiving

-1941President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs a bill establishing the 4th Thursday in November as 'Thanksgiving Day'

As you go around our Daybreak neighborhoods and see the decorations of Fall and the occasional 'turkey' remember those who came before us and the sacrifices they made and in turn share your blessings with others.
